Run for the Sun

April 7, 2010

Gary and Tami Quiones are busy accepting pledges for the annual Run for the Sun.  This motorcycle run is the primary fundraiser that the Christian Motorcycle Association has and the money raised is used to support these ministries:

Open Doors – serving persecuted Christians worldwide

The Jesus Film – reaching the unreached in their language

Missionary Ventures – impacting nations for Christ

We encourage you to follow these links to learn more about CMA and how they are serving our community and the nations for the sake of Christ.  Then we’d ask you to please make a donation to this cause.  Donations are accepted near the church lobby on top of the motorcycle – you can’t miss it!

Carole and Sandy are on their way!

November 1, 2009

Carole had a very nice send off on Wednesday night’s Sweet Hour of Prayer meeting.  Lots of friends arrived with both prayers and potluck dishes.  Carole had a chance to say goodbye to friends and friends had a chance to lift her up before leaving us for her year long adventure serving Jesus in Burayu, Ethiopia.

Guy and I drove Carole and Sandy to Woodland Friday afternoon.  Their flight was EARLY Saturday morning out of the Sacramento Airport.  We really enjoyed getting to have one last visit with both of them.  We found a great little restaurant for dinner and the girls enjoyed their last ‘American’ (actually Mexican:) meal.

last meal

I don’t think any of us slept very well Friday night anticipating an early (4am) wake up call and the next day being so exciting.  We made it to the airport in plenty of time.  The airport staff appeared to be having a really rough morning.  There was a lot of bickering and confusion behind the check in desks and nothing seemed to be going smoothly.  I don’t think anything could dissuade our girls’ spirits though.  They were just smiling from ear to ear in the midst of all that craziness!

Everything did get worked out eventually and Carole and Sandy are probably flying over Europe at the time of this posting and in a short time we’ll find out they’ve arrived in Ethiopia to meet the destiny! I can’t wait to hear all about Ethiopia, Burayu, their new home and especially the ways the Lord will be working in their lives throughout the next year.  Be sure to check into their blog often and keep them in your prayers continually.
