Carole had a very nice send off on Wednesday night’s Sweet Hour of Prayer meeting. Lots of friends arrived with both prayers and potluck dishes. Carole had a chance to say goodbye to friends and friends had a chance to lift her up before leaving us for her year long adventure serving Jesus in Burayu, Ethiopia.

Guy and I drove Carole and Sandy to Woodland Friday afternoon. Their flight was EARLY Saturday morning out of the Sacramento Airport. We really enjoyed getting to have one last visit with both of them. We found a great little restaurant for dinner and the girls enjoyed their last ‘American’ (actually Mexican:) meal.

I don’t think any of us slept very well Friday night anticipating an early (4am) wake up call and the next day being so exciting. We made it to the airport in plenty of time. The airport staff appeared to be having a really rough morning. There was a lot of bickering and confusion behind the check in desks and nothing seemed to be going smoothly. I don’t think anything could dissuade our girls’ spirits though. They were just smiling from ear to ear in the midst of all that craziness!

A Pile of Smiles:)
Everything did get worked out eventually and Carole and Sandy are probably flying over Europe at the time of this posting and in a short time we’ll find out they’ve arrived in Ethiopia to meet the destiny! I can’t wait to hear all about Ethiopia, Burayu, their new home and especially the ways the Lord will be working in their lives throughout the next year. Be sure to check into their blog often and keep them in your prayers continually.

Ok – Carole is officially blogging so we can all stay up to date as she gets closer to the recently disclosed departure date, October 29. Here’s Carole and Sandy’s blog – Carole and Sandy go to Burayu.
Carole has proved to be a quick study to the world of blogging. She’s had a VERY limited computer background, so it’s all been pretty new for her and she’s doing a great job navigating the internet and pecking away at the keyboard. We can’t wait to receive that first post from Africa!
So bookmark, RSS, Subscribe – whatever works for you – so you can stay in touch as Carole and Sandy get ready to discover all the exciting things the Lord has planned for them!
A huge THANK YOU to all of you who attended and Brother Joseph BBQ on Sept 12th. We had such a great time putting on this event! JT and the New Creatures were great and even though Brother Joseph’s video update did not make if from India on time the prensentation was great too.
The story about the video was pretty funny. The GSH ministries board was expecting a short video from Brother Joseph, but in his enthusiasm Bro Joe ended up recording an hour long video that included scenes from all his different ministries. Then on the day of the BBQ Bro Joe called GSH and told them that the video was in California and asked if someone could just pick it up;) Well, California is a pretty big state and the drive time to Sacramento or Redding made it too difficult to get the tape in time:)
GSH is going to have the tape edited and sent out to the churches. We’ll keep you posted for an update on the viewing.
The BBQ was a great success in raising awareness and funds for this ministry – $4200 were raised! Thank you to all who gave!

Please remember Brother Joseph in your prayers and if you’d like to be added to the email list for updates from India just drop me an email or pick up a form in the lobby of the church.

We are very excited to have our own missionary at Lake Shastina Community Bible Church. Carole Wilson has been called to the mission field.
Through a series of unexpected circumstances the missions board has been put in contact with Grace Giving International. Grace Giving Int’l was founded by Dale Boudro. Our church was blessed to meet Dale and his family back in August. Dale and his wife Yolanda have a heart for adoption and had, in tow, 10 of their 13 adopted children during their visit.
Here are a couple video clips of the Boudros’ visit:
After seeing for themselves Carole’s commitment to being used by the Lord in the missions field, Dale and Grace Giving International have been working diligently to put her to work. In the process we have seen many doors open and some have closed. Nonetheless Carole’s determination and enthusiasm have not waned. Carole says she’s the ‘eternal optimist’. What a blessing! She also admits that she’s ‘chomping at the bit to go!’
Carole has made a commitment to stay in Ethiopia for 12 months. She will need to raise money to pay for all of her own living expenses. This is the life of a missionary. So far her fund raising efforts have been very fruitful and she is significantly on her way to being funded. Thank you to all of you who have been moved to give!
Carole has a partner in this mission named Sandra Weiler. Sandra lives in Ashland and has also been called to be a missionary in Ethiopia. Please pray for them both!
Here are a few pics of a get together with Sandra and the Boudro’s at Carole’s house:

Don’t miss the roar of the motorcycles this weekend(June 26th-28th) at the Siskiyou County Fairgrounds! They are roaring for Jesus at the Ride in the Light Bike Rally. Our local Christian Motorcycle Association will be there and Pastor Ray Horst will be giving the Sunday morning message.
Check out their website for all the details. Ride In The Light Rally
We are still collecting loose change in baby bottles for Choices of Mt Shasta. This fundraiser runs from Mother’s Day until Father’s day(June 21st), so there is only a short time left to fill your bottle and bring it back to church.

Your loose change could change a life and save a life! If you did not get an empty bottle on Mother’s Day you can still bring in your change in a jar, a bag, a box, an old sock……. or you can write a check:)
Thank you to those who have already turned in their full bottles and donations. Great job!!
